Digital and offset are two methods of printing.
Digital printing is a way of printing where a pre-formatted print-ready digital file is sent to the digital printing press, which in no time prints your file as many times as you want. An advantage of digital printing is that you can personalize files, for example if you want to add unique addresses, ticket numbers or something similar. All products ordered in the Canon Webshop are produced digitally.
Offset uses thin, aluminium or plastic printing plates on which the image is placed. The plates are moistened and then a greasy ink is applied to them. The wet parts repel the ink, leaving ink visible only on the parts where image is applied. The ink is now transferred (offset) onto a rubber cloth, which prints the image back onto paper. All this is a labour-intensive process and is mainly used for printing where a very large print run is desired.
